Couchsurfers Cyrille and Ricarda wish to thank their amazing hosts they met backpacking the Americas:
“We started travelling in April in Seattle and since then, we drove all across the USA and backpacked in South America as well. All in all, we crashed on about 50 couches and every single place was a unique experience! During our half year trip we caught up so many memories we probably will remember a lifetime! Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us!”

Introducing “the Perfect Carry-On” (Made by and for Couchsurfers)

image

Two adventure-seeking Couchsurfers are using their travel know-how to create “the perfect carry-on.” Today they’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise the funds to produce and distribute their snazzy bag.

Co-Founder Jimmy Hayes says, “The wide range of Couchsurfers is the key to its charm. We’ve had dinner with film reviewers in Singapore, crashed with textile buyers in Istanbul, hosted Ivy League grads in Auckland and Canadian personal trainers in Wellington.

"Through all of these experiences, we realized our aim of traveling simply and efficiently was shared by a lot of people. Why pack more than you need and take up more space in your host’s tiny Parisian apartment? Why buy cheap gear that doesn’t last, made by companies who don’t care?Wouldn’t you prefer to be proud of the bag you carry? Won’t someone please think of the children!?!?!” image

"The past few years of Couchsurfing have proven to us that there’s something special going on out there on the road. We’ve been inspired and challenged in equal measure and have finally reached a point where we’re ready for the main adventure."

Vietnam. Cambodia. Laos. Thailand. My backpacking trip’s almost over, leaving Saigon in a few hours. This short trip is something I will always tell my grandkids. Very thankful to have met new friends both locals and travelers (and be hosted by awesome couchsurfers Son Le Thanh Huyen Phan Hong Tran), I have learned a lot - new discoveries, seen awe-mazing things - truly a great experience. And you, yes you that’s reading.”

On my way through the state of Washington I hitched a ride on a bicycle, Couchsurfed in Seattle, and was invited to a fairy festival in the woods.
