The day I finally realized I wasn’t a cat and have only one life, I left my job, spent two years travelling the world and now I’m working with people who are still traveling. Hopefully I will earn enough money to finish my project to set foot in all continents and get to know more and more crazy people around this small, beautiful planet.

In August 2011 I went to a community in the middle of Amazon where some people work with social capital and open source software. I was touched by them and the people that I met there. They were free even if they didn’t have money for the next month and I was the oposite, with money but feeling in a cage. Something was wrong with my path and my choices.

After 7 months I quit my job, sold and gave the rest of stuff that I had and start organizing and going to events in Brazil that have made difference for me. In 6 months not so much money left, when an opportunity to go to MIT appeared, the first place that I thought in asking for help was Couchsurfing, I thought “in 2011 I offered my apartment when I was travelling on vacations, so I’m sure I can find someone with a good heart as mine”. I posted that I needed a place to stay for 3 months in Boston and a lovely couple answered.

Rich and Rose were the most incredible family that I could ever met. They didn’t only host me in a nice bedroom, but opened their life as they were my family and received participants from the event that I was organizing (almost 20 people from 15 different countries).

During the same period in Brazil I offered my apartment to a friend that opened for friends, it has been an interesting experience.

I had to say good-bye to the best couch ever and soon I’ll travel to Africa and/or through USA and find many other awesome Couchsurfers. Who knows?
